Awh...the smells

I think that any pregnant woman can agree with me that your sense of smell escalates greatly during pregnancy.  It has been particularly strong this time.  The dog is rarely in the house but within seconds of her coming in I am wanting to gag. Some foods cooking smell good, where others require airing out the house afterwards.  You never know what it will be and it depends on the day.  Steve regularly comes home with products from Bath and Body Works to improve the smell of our house.  Candles, air fresheners, plug-ins, you name it!  Such a sweet husband I have. My friends told me that she couldn't stand the smell of her husband when she was pregnant. That is not a problem for me- I just can't stand the smell of MYSELF! I am constantly asking Steve if I stink and he either lies and says "no" or I really don't stink, I just feel like I do.  It makes me crazy cause it is obviously impossible to get away from the smell of yourself!

Well I am not the only one with a strange sense of smell right now.  The other day Carter came and sat next to me on the couch.  He started sniffing at me.  I thought, "Oh great, here we go, verification that I really do stink!"  But, what came out of his mouth was, "Mom, you smell like Home Depot."  I busted up laughing.  But my question is, does Home Depot scent count as stink?

You know it's time to have a baby when...

5.  Even when wearing maternity clothes, you can feel a breeze up your shirt signaling that your stomach is showing from below.
4. Complete strangers comment on your "cute little belly ball" and want to touch it. When you tell them there is a month to go, you get a "You poor soul" look and then they quickly walk away.
3. The weight and the inches increase daily rather than monthly.
2. Getting in and out of bed, a chair, or a car proves to be nearly impossible, and extremely painful. Don't even mention the floor.
1. MEN comment on how large your belly is. Yes, that is MEN.  And not just men you know...

Roasting in the snow

This year Carter had a campfire birthday.  The kids enjoyed roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, making smores, and playing games. They honestly would have been just as happy playing and running around, but I managed to get in a treasure hunt and pin the hotdog on the fire (lame I know-but they loved it!) My mom found a smores cake online and I made that, which ended up being super easy and turned out really cute. He loved it!  Even with the snow outside, the fire kept them warm and entertained.  He loved all the Starwars and weapons he got from friends.
His favorite family presents were his paper jamz guitar,  Starwars fighter pods, and Lego Ningago guy.  He got spoiled, as usual, but was pretty polite and grateful for a  6 year old which made me happy.
I think he had a great day from the donuts we took to his school class to the party with friends and then family.  It made for a full day, but a fun one too.  As always, the goal was to make him happy and feel special- I think we accomplished that! Phew!

#6 for my little boy

I can't express the love I have for this little boy! He is a light in my life. His smile, his kisses and hugs, his sweet voice and his little attitude all touch the heart of his mommy.  Steve say's I have a soft spot for him and he is probably right.

I can't believe 6 years have passed and all that has happened in those 6 years.  I continue to learn how to handle this very opinionated, active, and manipulating little monkey and enjoy the learning process.
